At the scheduled opening time, the store’s blinds open and the lights turn on.
ffumz is a seasonal-vegetable restaurant in Mangwon-dong, Seoul, and we rely on several smart-home automations for daily operations.
Because we’re a small shop and one person often handles both opening and closing, it’s easy to lose track of time while prepping ingredients in the kitchen. To prevent missing the opening time, we set up an “ffumz Opening Prep” automation. At the set opening time, the wood blinds by the front window open to signal that we’re open, and the hall lights turn on.
Implementation:
The motorized wood blinds are first added to the Hejhome app, then brought into SmartThings by linking the Hejhome account.
The hall downlights are controlled by SiHAS wall switches (we replaced the original switches), which can be paired directly with SmartThings.
The Tapo Light Strips on the muffin showcase and on top of the bookshelf are added to the Tapo app first, then linked to SmartThings by connecting the Tapo account—similar to Hejhome.
To handle days off or schedule changes, we added a precondition so this automation runs only when the Location mode is set to our “Home.” (We have another automation that switches the Location mode to this state when we arrive at the shop.)
