Fennelsmart, Inc. (“we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use Wizip (the “Service” or “Site”). By accessing or using Wizip, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Site.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that is necessary to provide and improve our services. The types of information we may collect include:

  • Information You Provide to Us:

    • Account Data: When you register or sign in via a third-party service (currently Google Sign-In), we collect information from your profile. This may include your name, email address, and any other basic profile details that Google provides to us with your consent. We do not collect your Google account password or sensitive data from your Google account – authentication is handled by Google, and they simply share your core profile information with us once you authorize it.

    • User Content: If you choose to post automations, comments, images, or other content on Wizip, we collect that content. This can include textual descriptions of automation setups, photographs or diagrams you upload, and any other information you choose to include in your postings. Please remember that any content you post is visible to others on the Site, so do not include information in your posts that you are not comfortable sharing publicly.

    • Communications: If you contact us directly (for example, via customer support email or feedback form), we will receive the contents of your message and any contact information you provide (like your email address or phone number), as well as any other information you choose to include in your communication.

  • Information We Collect Automatically:
When you use Wizip, certain information is collected automatically about your device and usage of the Site, in order to help us understand how users navigate our platform and to secure our Service. This may include:

    • Usage Data: We may log information about your use of the Site, such as the pages or automations you view, the links you click, the searches you conduct, the timestamps of your visits, and the referring webpage that led you to our Site.

    • Device and Technical Data: We may collect information about the device and browser you use to access Wizip. This may include your IP address, browser type, device type (e.g., desktop, smartphone), operating system, device identifiers, and possibly coarse location based on IP (e.g., city or country).

    • Cookies and Similar Technologies: We use cookies (small text files stored in your browser) and similar tracking technologies to provide and personalize the Service, analyze usage, and for security. For example, we may use cookies to keep you logged in (session management) and to remember your preferences (like locale or language selection). We may also use analytics cookies to collect information about how users engage with the Site (see Analytics below). You have control over cookies – see Your Choices below for managing cookies.

  • Information from Third Parties:
Apart from Google authentication data (described above), we presently do not collect personal information about you from third-party sources. In the future, if we enable additional login options or integrate other services, we will update this policy accordingly. We do, however, collect some third-party content data for the Service’s functionality: for example, product information from retailers or manufacturers (like Amazon) via their APIs to display device details. This type of data generally does not include any personal information about users; it is product data (e.g., device name, price, compatibility) used to enhance your experience on Wizip.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes related to operating and improving Wizip, including:

  • Providing and Maintaining the Service: We use personal information (like your account info) to allow you to log in via Google and to enable core Site functionality. For example, we use your profile name to identify you as the creator of content you post (“Created by [Name]” on an automation) and your email to maintain your account and communicate with you. We use your User Content to display it to other users as part of the Service’s purpose (sharing home automation ideas).

  • Improving and Personalizing the Service: We analyze usage data and feedback to understand how our users interact with Wizip. This helps us troubleshoot issues, optimize Site performance, and develop new features. It may also help us personalize your experience – for example, remembering your selected language/locale, or showing you relevant content (we might in the future recommend automations or devices based on your interests).

  • Communication: We may use your contact information to send service-related communications. For instance, we might send you administrative emails (for example, if we update our Terms or Privacy Policy, or if there’s a significant update to the platform). If you opt-in to any newsletters or marketing messages in the future, we will use your information to send those as well – but we will provide a way to unsubscribe.

  • Affiliate and E-commerce Operations: If you click on affiliate links (such as Amazon product links) on our Site, we may track that click for attribution purposes (so that the third-party knows the referral came from Wizip). We do not receive your personal financial information from these transactions – for example, if you purchase a product on Amazon via our link, Amazon will provide us aggregate information for commission calculation, but not your credit card info or personal address used in that purchase. If in the future we facilitate direct purchases on Wizip (for example, through an integrated shop or Shopify), we will use your information to process those orders (such as collecting shipping addresses or payment information), but we will provide further details at that time and ensure compliance with relevant privacy and security standards.

  • Content Moderation and Safety: We may monitor certain activities on the Site, including logs and User Content, to detect, prevent, or address fraudulent, abusive, or unlawful behavior. For example, if we detect patterns that look like bot usage or someone scraping content, we might analyze those logs to block malicious activity. Similarly, if inappropriate content is reported, we may review the content (including associated user info) to decide on removal or other action.

  • Development and Research: We may use information (including aggregated, non-identifiable data) to understand our user base and Service performance. This helps us in research and development of new products or features. For example, understanding which device categories are most popular can guide us in expanding those sections. Moreover, as mentioned in our Terms, we might use content and data submitted by users to train algorithms or improve our recommendation systems – however, we would do so in a manner that does not publicly expose any personal identifiers that are not already intended to be public.

  • Legal Compliance and Enforcement: We may use your information to comply with applicable legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests by public authorities, or to enforce our Terms of Use. For instance, we may preserve or disclose account information if required to do so by law or in a good-faith belief that such access, preservation, or disclosure is reasonably necessary to (a) comply with legal process, (b) enforce our Terms, (c) respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties, or (d) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Wizip, our users, or the public.

3. How We Share Your Information

We understand the importance of keeping your personal information private. We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information in the following circumstances:

  • With Service Providers: We may share personal information with third-party vendors and service providers who perform services on our behalf, strictly for the purposes described in this policy. This includes, for example, web hosting providers, cloud infrastructure providers, analytics providers, email delivery services, or customer support tools. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us. (For instance, if we use a cloud service to host our database, your data will be stored on their servers, but they cannot use it except to follow our instructions.)

  • Affiliate / Advertising Partners: If we participate in affiliate programs (like Amazon Associates or Coupang Partners), we may share certain non-personal identifiers to facilitate commissions. For example, when you click an Amazon affiliate link, Amazon may receive information that the traffic came from Wizip via an affiliate ID. This helps Amazon attribute any resulting purchase to our account for commission purposes. Similarly, if we work with advertisers or ad networks in the future, they may receive general information through cookies or tags on our site (like the fact that a browser with a certain cookie visited a page). We will not share your name or contact info with such partners without your consent. Any ads displayed would ideally be contextual or based on non-identifying information unless you specifically opt into personalized ads.

  • Business Transfers: If Fennelsmart, Inc. is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of Wizip’s assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, in compliance with privacy and data protection standards. We would seek to require the new owner to continue to honor the privacy rights and obligations as described in this policy.

  • Public Content: As noted, content that you post on Wizip (like automation guides, comments, or forum posts) will be visible to others by default. Your username (and any profile information you choose to make public) will be associated with that content. This isn’t “sharing” in the sense of providing data to third parties, but it’s important to note that anything you post publicly is available to anyone who visits the site and may potentially be indexed by search engines or copied by others. Please be mindful of this when posting.

  • Legal Requirements and Protection of Rights: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to:

    • Comply with a legal obligation, such as a subpoena, court order, or regulatory demand.

    • Protect and defend the rights or property of Fennelsmart, Inc. (including the enforcement of our Terms of Use or agreements).

    • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service, or protect the personal safety of users or the public.

    • Protect against legal liability.

  • With Your Consent: In cases where we want to share your information for purposes not covered by this Privacy Policy, we will request your consent. For example, if we ever wanted to highlight a user story or testimonial that includes personal information, we would ask for your permission to do so.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Wizip uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to provide, customize, and improve the user experience:

  • Cookies: Cookies are small data files stored on your browser or device. Wizip may use both session cookies (which expire once you close your web browser) and persistent cookies (which stay on your device for a set period or until deleted) for various purposes. These include:

    • Authentication Cookies: to keep you logged in as you navigate the site. Without these, you would have to log in every time you load a new page.

    • Preference Cookies: to remember your preferences, such as language selection or display settings, so we can provide a more personalized experience.

    • Analytics Cookies: to collect information about how users interact with our Site, helping us understand what content is popular or where users might encounter errors. We might use third-party analytics tools (like Google Analytics) which set their own cookies to track interactions (e.g., which pages are visited, for how long, etc.). These analytics cookies provide us with aggregated information that cannot directly identify you, but help us improve the site’s functionality and content.

    • Affiliate Cookies: if you click an affiliate link (e.g., Amazon), a cookie may be placed on your browser by the third-party affiliate program to track the referral. This is handled by the third-party (such as Amazon’s systems) when you reach their site. Wizip itself may not set these, but we note their existence as part of using affiliate links.

  • Other Tracking Technologies: We may use web beacons (also known as pixel tags) in emails or on the site. For instance, if we send email communications, we might include a beacon to know if you opened an email (which helps us gauge engagement or deliver messages effectively). On the site, pixels from social media or analytics services might be present (e.g., a Facebook Pixel or similar) if we decide to support social media login or run analytics/ads. These help track conversions or user actions for those services. We will update this policy if we introduce such technologies in a significant way.

  • Do Not Track: “Do Not Track” is a preference you can set in your web browser to signal that you do not wish to be tracked across websites. At this time, Wizip does not respond to DNT signals specifically, because there is not a universal standard for DNT. However, we treat all users’ privacy seriously and will honor specific opt-outs (for example, if we introduce cookie consent tools or advertising opt-outs, we will honor those choices regardless of DNT).

5. Third-Party Services and Links

Wizip integrates with or links to third-party services. This Privacy Policy applies only to data we collect on Wizip, and does not cover the practices of third parties. For example:

  • Google Sign-In: If you use Google to authenticate, you are subject to Google’s privacy policy for that authentication process. Google may collect information about that sign-in (e.g., that your Google account was used to sign into Wizip). We only receive the data you authorize us to receive (name, email, etc.). We encourage you to review Google’s Privacy Policy for more details on their data practices.

  • Amazon and Other Affiliate Programs: When you click an Amazon “Buy Now” link on Wizip, you will be redirected to Amazon’s website. Any data collected by Amazon during that process (such as cookies to remember that you came from Wizip, or any information you provide to Amazon to complete a purchase) is governed by Amazon’s privacy policies. We do not control how Amazon or other third-party sites handle your data. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any external sites you visit.

  • Social Media or External Links: If Wizip in the future allows sharing content to social platforms (like a “Share on Facebook” button) or links out to YouTube videos, etc., interacting with those features may allow those third parties to collect some data (for instance, the fact that you visited a certain Wizip page). Those interactions are governed by the privacy policy of the respective third party.

  • Third-Party Content and Embedded Media: Content on Wizip might include embedded media or integrations (for example, a YouTube video demonstrating an automation, or an embedded map). If such content is embedded, those external services might collect data about you (e.g., YouTube could collect viewing info) as if you visited their site directly. We will endeavor to mark or notify users when third-party content is embedded, but please be aware of this possibility.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third parties. If you leave our Site or interact with a third-party service, we strongly encourage you to read that service’s privacy policy.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption: We use HTTPS (TLS encryption) for all data transmissions on Wizip. This means that the data exchanged between your browser and our servers is encrypted in transit, protecting it from eavesdropping.

  • Access Controls: We restrict access to personal data to authorized personnel who need it to operate, develop, or improve our Service. These individuals are bound by confidentiality obligations.

  • Security Practices: Our servers and databases are protected by firewall, encryption, and monitoring technologies. We also regularly update our software and frameworks to address security vulnerabilities. If we store passwords or sensitive tokens, we store them securely (for example, we don’t store your Google password at all; for any future direct accounts we would hash passwords).

  • Third-Party Security: When we use third-party services (hosting providers, etc.), we choose reputable providers with their own strong security practices and compliance certifications where applicable.

Despite all measures, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. You should also take care with how you handle and disclose your personal information, and avoid sending sensitive information through insecure channels. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you suspect the security of your account has been compromised), please immediately contact us.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. For example:

  • Account Information: We keep your account information (like your email and profile info) for as long as your account is active. If you decide to delete your Wizip account, we will remove or anonymize personal data associated with your account within a reasonable time after your request, except to the extent we need to retain certain information for legal compliance or legitimate business purposes. We may retain basic information to prevent fraud or identity misuse if you attempt to create another account after deletion, or as part of our backups for a limited time.

  • User Content: Content that you have posted (automation descriptions, etc.) may remain on the Site as long as your account is active or until you remove it. If you delete a post or your account, the content may no longer be visible to other users, but it may persist in our backup archives or logs for a period of time until those are purged. Also, if other users have interacted with your content (for example, if someone copied part of your automation description or it was included in a public dataset), we cannot always guarantee the complete removal of that content from the internet.

  • Analytics Data: We may retain aggregated usage data (which is not personally identifiable) indefinitely for the purposes of statistical analysis and improvements to the Service.

  • Legal Compliance: If we are under a legal obligation to retain certain data (for example, records of transactions or communications), we will retain that data for the period mandated by law. Similarly, if there is an ongoing dispute or investigation relating to your data, we will retain the relevant information until it is resolved.

After the retention period expires, or after we have fulfilled the purposes for which we collected the data, we will delete or anonymize your information in a commercially reasonable manner.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You may have certain rights and choices regarding your personal information:

  • Access and Update: You can access and update some of your account information by logging into Wizip and visiting your profile or account settings (if available). For example, you might be able to update your display name or other preferences. If any information we have is inaccurate or outdated, please update it or let us know so we can correct it.

  • Account Deletion: If you wish to delete your Wizip account, you can contact us at support@fennelsmart.com with your request. Upon verifying your identity (we want to ensure it’s really you making the request), we will delete or anonymize your personal information from our active databases. As noted in Data Retention, some information may remain in backups or logs for a period of time, but will be purged in the normal course of our operations. Keep in mind that deletion of your account will remove your ability to log in and any content associated with your account may no longer be accessible to you (and possibly to other users, if you choose to remove it as well).

  • Opt-Out of Communications: If we send you promotional emails or newsletters, we will provide an unsubscribe link. You can click that to opt out of future marketing emails. (Note: We may still send you important administrative or account-related messages even if you opt out of marketing communications, such as changes to our Terms or Privacy Policy or security notices.)

  • Cookies: Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through your settings preferences. You can usually instruct your browser to stop accepting new cookies, disable existing ones, or notify you when you receive a new cookie. However, note that if you disable cookies, some features of Wizip might not function properly (for example, you might not stay logged in). You can also typically opt out of certain third-party cookie uses (like Google Analytics) by using tools or browser add-ons (e.g., Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on).

  • “Do Not Sell” (California): We do not sell personal information as defined under California’s “CCPA”. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide a mechanism for opting out.

  • Rights of California Residents: If you are a resident of California, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or other state laws, including the right to request information about the categories of personal data we have collected and the sources, the right to request deletion of your personal data, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your privacy rights. If applicable, you may contact us to exercise these rights and we will verify and respond as required by law. (Since our Service is new and our user base is small, we may not be subject to CCPA’s requirements, but we intend to honor valid requests to the extent we can.)

  • Rights of EU/EEA Residents: While our primary target users are in the United States and we are not currently focusing on the EU, if you are an EU/EEA resident using our Service, you have rights under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), including the right to access your data, rectify inaccuracies, request erasure (the “right to be forgotten”), restrict or object to processing, and data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country. We will endeavor to uphold these rights for any EU users, even though we may not be legally required to comply if we do not target or monitor individuals in the EU. Please contact us if you wish to exercise any of these rights.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. Please note that for certain requests (like access or deletion), we will need to verify your identity to ensure the security of your account and data.

9. Children’s Privacy

As stated in our Terms, Wizip is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you are under 13, do not use or provide any information on this Site or on or through any of its features, register on the Site, or send any information about yourself to us. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child under 13 may have provided personal information to us, please contact us at support@fennelsmart.com, and we will work to delete that account and any related information. For minors above 13 but under 18, we strongly advise that they use Wizip only with parental consent and guidance. Parents should talk with their children about communicating with strangers and disclosing personal information online.

10. International Users

Wizip is operated from the United States, but it may be accessible to users around the world. If you are using the Site from outside the United States, be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions where our servers or our service providers are located. Data protection laws in these jurisdictions may be different from, and less protective than, the laws in your country. By using our Service, you consent to your information being transferred to our facilities and to the facilities of those third parties with whom we share it, as described in this Privacy Policy.

We will take steps to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to protect your data as required by applicable law. For example, if we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK to the U.S., we may rely on standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we do update the policy, we will change the “Last Updated” date at the end of this document. If the changes are significant, we may provide a more prominent notice (such as adding a statement on our homepage or notifying registered users via email).

Your continued use of Wizip after any changes to this Privacy Policy signifies your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information on our privacy practices.
