Privacy Policy

Fennelsmart, Inc. ("Fennelsmart," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Wizip platform at wizip.io (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service. It also describes your rights regarding your personal data and how to exercise them.

By creating an account or using Wizip, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. For information about the terms governing your use of the Service, please see our Terms of Service.


1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

Account Information. When you create a Wizip account, we collect your email address, full name, and a display nickname. If you sign up or log in using Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.

User-Generated Content. When you use the Service, you may submit automation recipes (including titles, descriptions, steps, categories, images, and videos), comments on automations, device requests (including device name, brand, model, and purchase links), and profile information (including your avatar).

My Devices Inventory. When you save devices to your personal "My Devices" list, we store which devices you have selected and how they were added (manually or through other means).

Wiz AI Interactions. If you opt in to use Wiz, our AI smart home assistant, we collect your conversation messages and Wiz's responses. Through your conversations, Wiz may also collect smart home profile information that you share, including: housing type, home ownership status, household size, phone operating system, smart home platforms you use, voice assistant preferences, installation preferences, budget range, and priority features.

Communications. If you contact us at support@fennelsmart.com, we collect the content of your communications.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage Data. When you access the Service, we automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen resolution, referring URL, pages visited, time spent on pages, and the date and time of your visit.

Analytics Data. With your consent, we collect performance and usage analytics through third-party analytics services.

Error Data. We use third-party error tracking services, which may collect technical information about errors you encounter, including error messages, stack traces, and limited user context necessary for debugging.

Rate Limiting Data. To protect the Service from abuse, we collect and temporarily store information about the frequency of your requests.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

Google OAuth. If you use Google to sign in, we receive your name, email, and profile picture as authorized by your Google account settings.

Affiliate Partners. We may receive aggregated or anonymized data from affiliate partners regarding purchases made through our links, for the purpose of commission tracking.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

Providing and Operating the Service. We use your account information, user-generated content, and device inventory to deliver the core Wizip experience, including displaying automations, managing your profile, and maintaining your device list.

Personalized AI Recommendations (Wiz). If you opt in to Wiz, we use your conversation history, smart home profile, and My Devices inventory as real-time context provided to third-party AI models to generate personalized smart home recommendations. This is real-time personalization at the time of each conversation — your data informs individual AI responses but does not modify, train, or fine-tune the underlying AI models. For more detail, see Section 5.

Service Improvement. We analyze aggregated usage patterns, error reports, and performance metrics to improve the Service's reliability, features, and user experience. This analysis uses aggregate data, not individual conversation content.

Content Moderation. We use user-generated content to enforce our Terms of Service and community standards.

Communications. We use your email address to send essential service communications (such as account verification, password resets, and material policy changes). We do not send marketing emails without your separate opt-in consent.

Legal Compliance and Safety. We may use your information to comply with applicable laws, respond to legal process, prevent fraud, and protect the safety and security of our users and the Service.

Affiliate Links. When you click affiliate links on the Service, you are redirected to third-party retailer websites. Fennelsmart does not transmit your personal data to these affiliate partners; the affiliate relationship is tracked through identifiers embedded in the link URL. For details on how affiliate links work, see our Terms of Service.


3. How We Share Your Information

3.1 Third-Party Service Providers

We share your information with the following categories of service providers, solely for the purposes described:

AI Provider Data Processing. Your Wiz conversation data is transmitted to third-party AI providers through their paid API services. Under the terms of these paid API agreements, these providers are contractually prohibited from using your data to train, improve, or develop their AI models. If we change AI providers, the same contractual protections will apply.

3.2 Public Information

The following information is publicly visible on Wizip: your display nickname, avatar, published automation recipes, and comments. Your email address is never publicly displayed.

3.3 We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

Fennelsmart does not sell your personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or any other applicable privacy law. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

3.4 Aggregated and Anonymized Data

We may create, use, and share aggregated or anonymized data derived from your use of the Service for any purpose, including business analytics and industry research. This data cannot reasonably be used to identify you. For example, we may publish statistics about smart home platform popularity or device category trends based on aggregate user data.

3.5 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: comply with a legal obligation or valid legal process; protect and defend our rights or property; prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing; protect the personal safety of users or the public; or protect against legal liability.

3.6 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.

Account Deletion. You may request account deletion by contacting support@fennelsmart.com. When your account is deleted, we will delete all associated personal data within 30 days. Published content that has been distributed or cached may persist in anonymized form for up to 90 days. Aggregate or anonymized data derived from your usage is retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify you.


5. AI Features (Wiz) — Data Processing Details

This section provides additional detail about how your data is processed when you use Wiz, our AI smart home assistant.

5.1 How Wiz Uses Your Data (Real-Time Personalization)

When you interact with Wiz, the following happens:

  1. Your message, along with relevant context (conversation history, smart home profile, My Devices data), is assembled into a prompt.
  2. This prompt is sent to a third-party AI model via a paid API.
  3. The AI model generates a response based on this context.
  4. The response is returned to you and stored in your conversation history.

This process is real-time personalization (inference), not model training. The AI model's underlying capabilities, parameters, and behavior are not modified by your data. Your data is used to inform a single response, then the AI model has no memory of your interaction outside of what we explicitly provide as context in subsequent conversations. Each user's data is isolated and never included in another user's AI context.

5.2 Third-Party AI Provider Guarantees

We use paid API tiers from AI providers, which include contractual commitments that customer data will not be used for model training. If we add or switch AI providers, we will only use paid API tiers that provide equivalent data protection commitments.


6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

In summary:

  • Essential Cookies: Authentication session cookies are required for the Service to function and are always active.
  • Analytics Cookies: Analytics services are activated only with your opt-in consent.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time through the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of our website.


7. Your Privacy Rights

7.1 Rights for All Users

Regardless of your location, you may:

  • Access your personal data by viewing your profile, automations, comments, and Wiz conversation history within the Service.
  • Correct inaccurate data by editing your profile information.
  • Delete your data by deleting individual content items, or request full account deletion by contacting us at support@fennelsmart.com.
  • Export your data by contacting us at support@fennelsmart.com.
  • Withdraw Consent for Wiz AI features or analytics cookies at any time by contacting us at support@fennelsmart.com or through controls available within the Service.

7.2 Additional Rights for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • Right to Know. You may request that we disclose the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the business purposes for collection, and the categories of third parties with whom we share your data.
  • Right to Delete. You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct. You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing. You have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. Fennelsmart does not sell or share your personal information as defined by the CCPA. However, we provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link for transparency.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information. To the extent we process sensitive personal information, you may request that we limit its use to what is necessary to provide the Service.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@fennelsmart.com or use the controls available within the Service. We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within 45 days.

If you are a resident of the Republic of Korea, you have the following additional rights under the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA):

  • Right to Access. You may request access to your personal data and details about how it is processed.
  • Right to Correct. You may request correction or deletion of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to Suspend Processing. You may request that we suspend processing of your personal data.
  • Right to Withdraw Consent. You may withdraw consent for any data processing at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing conducted prior to withdrawal.
  • Right to Data Portability. You may request your personal data in a structured, commonly used format.

By using Wizip, you consent to the transfer of your personal data to the United States as described above. We implement appropriate technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data during and after transfer.

Filing Complaints. You may file complaints with the Personal Information Protection Commission (개인정보보호위원회, PIPC) at https://www.pipc.go.kr or by calling 118.

7.4 Users in Other Jurisdictions

If you reside in a jurisdiction with data protection laws that grant you specific rights not listed above (such as the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Brazil, or other regions), we will honor those rights to the extent required by applicable law. Please contact us at support@fennelsmart.com to exercise your rights.


8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit using TLS and at rest using AES-256 encryption.
  • Access Controls: Row-Level Security (RLS) is enforced on all database tables containing user data, ensuring users can only access their own data.
  • Authentication: User authentication is managed through secure, industry-standard session handling.
  • Rate Limiting: Automated rate limiting protects against brute-force attacks and abuse.
  • Monitoring: We use real-time error monitoring and security alerting services.
  • Minimal Access: Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.

While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Security Incidents. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities in accordance with applicable law. For California residents, notification will be made without unreasonable delay. For South Korean residents, we will notify the PIPC within 72 hours if 1,000 or more individuals are affected.


9. Children's Privacy

Wizip is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@fennelsmart.com. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

For users between 13 and 18 years of age: if you use the Wiz AI feature, please be aware that the periodic reminders about Wiz being an AI system will appear in accordance with applicable state laws.


10. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, products, or services, including Amazon, Coupang, and other retailers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to any third-party sites or services. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit. Fennelsmart is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of third-party sites.


11. International Data Transfers

Wizip is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

We ensure appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including contractual protections with our service providers. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.


12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or through a prominent notice within the Service at least 30 days before the changes take effect. We will also update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.

For changes that materially affect how we process your Wiz AI data, we may require renewed consent before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of the revised Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes. If you do not agree with the revised policy, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
